Classic, I remember seeing it at a small town drive-in in 1996, in a friend’s 1981 Buick. Always enjo yed it, I still need to visit the real life Wakita.

A 12 year old boy watched Twister in the theater back in 1996 when it was released. He went in as a boy who was curious about, but very much scared of, bad weather. He came out, however, with a different mentality on tornadoes and weather as a whole. He was fascinated by the power and the beauty. As he got older, his life and career went a different direction, but he always held onto that passion for weather and storm chasing. He was so passionate about it, he eventually became an amateur storm chaser, running towards storms when others would run away or take shelter.

Sometimes movies give us a brief moment where we wish we were somebody else. Other times, we become them. I know Bill was just an actor, but I would have loved to have had the opportunity to meet him just to thank him for helping that 12 year old boy not only overcome his fear of tornadoes, but develop the passion to want to chase them.

I watched it last winter along with Dantes peak and the original jurrasic park. R emember when action movies had a plot and enough cgi to make it realistic without going matrix level crazy?
